REPLICARE ULTRA (HYDROCOLLOID) WOUND DRESSING 10CM X 10CM

Hydrocolloid Wound Dressing

Hydrocolloids comprise a combination of polymers, namely carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), held in suspension in water and may also contain polysaccharides, proteins and adhesives. Typically, they are used on minimally to moderately exuding superficial or partial thickness wounds to encourage autolysis and absorb excess fluid forming a gel at the wound surface. They may also be used prophylactically in the protection of new epithelial tissue or over bony prominences.

Replicare Ultra consists of a layer of hydrocolloid (liquid absorbing particles in an elastic, self-adhesive mass), covered on the upper side by a semi-permeable polyurethane film.

Benefits

Superior Conformability

- The thin and light construction of Replicare Ultra conforms well to patients' contours. Replicare Ultra is easy to use, even in awkward areas such as the heel, toes and sacrum.

Superior Fluid Handling

- Good absorbency and high permeability, making it ideal for light to moderately exuding wounds.

Breathable

- Breathable backing film helps to create and maintain a moist wound environment to promote faster healing, and allows excess moisture to pass through the structure to manage exudate.

Waterproof

- Backing film is waterproof and prevents fluid strikethrough.

Bacterial Barrier

- The dressing provides a barrier to bacterial strikethrough.

No need for a secondary dressing

- Replicare Ultra has an all over adhesive for superior durability and security.

Contraindications / Precautions

Hydrocolloid wound dressings should only be used under the advice of a health care professional. A medical practitioner should treat wounds with signs of clinical infection before treatment with Replicare Ultra. Ulcers predominantly or entirely caused by arterial insufficiency should be inspected regularly by a medical practitioner.

Do not use on infected wounds.

Do not use on patients with a known allergy to hydrocolloid dressings.

HOW TO USE HYDROCOLLOID DRESSING

Step 1:

Cleanse the wound and surrounding tissue in accordance with normal procedures. Choose a dressing that extends at least 1.5cm beyond the wound margin. Remove the protective paper exposing the adhesive surface of the dressing. Avoid touching the adhesive surface to minimise the risk of contamination.

Step 2:

Apply the dressing with a rolling motion. Remove the clear application handle and smooth the dressing firmly into place. This initial adhesion will improve as the dressing warms up.

Step 3:

Remove Replicare Ultra by carefully lifting the edge of, or rolling off, the dressing all around the wound margin. Lift dressing away from the wound and rinse away remaining gel with sterile saline or other appropriate wound cleanser. Remove* adhesive remover may be used to aid dressing removal.
