General Information

Blood transfusion is generally the process of receiving blood products into one's circulation intravenously. Transfusions are used for various medical conditions to replace lost components of the blood. Early transfusions used whole blood, but modern medical practice commonly uses only components of the blood, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, clotting factors, and platelets.

Blood Transfusion Set with Pump designed for transfusion of blood or blood component. Transfusion Pump Set is used in modern Hospitals for the requirement of rapidly delivering Blood, Fluid or Blood substitute. In Australia & new Zealand, it is common procedure for major Hospitals to use these sets as standard in Anaesthetics, Emergency and ICU. They may have sets on standby for trauma cases or cases where there is a likelihood of Blood Loss or major dehydration.

In Australia, most ambulances carry these for the rapid infusion of fluids. The sets will deliver approximately 9 Litres/hour.

The sets are available in Single or Multi Flow configurations and can be supplied with Needle Access or Needle Free. More elaborate sets are also available that will offer two needle free valves, non-return valve and Luer Break in line.
