ALLEVYN LIFE FOAM DRESSING 12.9CM X12.9CM

FOAM DRESSING

Foams are comfortable, conformable and are highly efficient at absorbing large amounts of wound exudate whilst maintaining a moist wound environment. They are easy to use and leave no residue in the wound upon removal. Can be used as a primary or secondary dressing.

ALLEVYN LIFE (FOAM DRESSING)

ALLEVYN Life has an advanced layered construction, which combines a composite hydrocellular foam pad held between a perforated silicone gel adhesive wound contact layer and a highly permeable waterproof outer film.  ALLEVYN Life incorporates a central mesh screen on the pad to help shield the visibility of exudate.

How does ALLEVYN Life work?

The advanced layered construction of ALLEVYN Life facilitates dynamic fluid management6 to provide the optimal moist wound environment which leads to the promotion of faster healing and minimises the risk of maceration. The wound contact surface of ALLEVYN Life is coated with a gentle silicone adhesive layer that ensures atraumatic removal at dressing changes.

What is ALLEVYN Life indicated for?

ALLEVYN Life is used to dress exuding wounds including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, malignant wounds, surgical wounds, first and second degree burns, donor sites, fungating ulcers and skin tears. ALLEVYN Life may be used on infected wounds, which should be treated as per local clinical protocol.

How long can ALLEVYN Life be left in place?

ALLEVYN Life can be left in place for up to 7 days, except the sacral area where dressings can be left in place for up to 5 days.

When should I change the ALLEVYN Life dressing?

Dressings can be left in place for up to 7 days, except the sacral area where dressings can be left in place for up to 5 days, depending on the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin, or until exudate covers more than 50% of the absorbent outside of the central screen.

The above information is for guidance and the decision of when to change should be dependent upon clinical assessment and local protocols should also be taken into consideration.

How should I remove ALLEVYN Life?

To remove ALLEVYN Life, lift the edge of the dressing and slowly peel back until completely removed from the wound.

Is ALLEVYN Life showerproof?

Yes it is showerproof, the film is waterproof and bacteria proof.

Does ALLEVYN Life have any odour?

No the dressing does not have a smell. The dressing locks away odour so it is retained within the dressing.

Is there a risk ALLEVYN Life will dry out the wound?

No as ALLEVYN Life is designed to maintain a moist wound healing environment.

Can ALLEVYN Life be cut?

No, the dressing cannot be cut as internal particulate components may enter the wound leading to delayed healing.

Does ALLEVYN Life work in combination with gels?

ALLEVYN Life can be used in conjunction with INTRASITE Gel for necrotic or sloughy wounds.

Can ALLEVYN Life be used with oxidising agents?

Do not use ALLEVYN Life dressing with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions (e.g. EUSOL) or hydrogen peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing.

Can ALLEVYN Life be repositioned?

ALLEVYN Life can be lifted and repositioned without losing its adherent properties but ensure no creasing or stretching of the dressing occurs when applying.

How should ALLEVYN Life be stored?

ALLEVYN Life should be stored in a dry place below 77°f/ 25°c, away from sunlight.
